At the end of each day in kindergarten we reserve time for children to have choice time. Play is the work of children! When students are playing they are learning and working on: coordination, getting along with others, developing intelligence, using language, and expressing themselves. Children are allowed to find something that they enjoy. Optional snack is also available at this time. It is nice to offer the children time that is a little less structured and purely choice.
Welcome to our classroom. Our blog is like a journal, a never ending account of all the learning and the exciting adventures we experience. We are a group of learners who care about each other. We hope you enjoy reading and watching what we do. Please visit often.

Partnership Reading
Did you know WE ARE READERS? That means we know readers look, think, read and learn. Each day during Reader's Workshop students have a chance to read. First we read privately and then we read in partnerships. Our partners will change throughout the year. We are building the time we attend to reading. We call this stamina. Enjoy photos of children in partnerships.

Shapes, Shapes, Shapes
Our hands on math learning today had us work in small groups to create shapes from ropes. We had to work cooperatively and listen to one another.
Afterwards we played Pattern Block Candy Land.

Our First Field Trip Neiman Orchards
We had a beautiful day for our first field trip. We are thankful for the many volunteers. Mrs. Ebel shared a great recipe that you might like to try with the apples your child will bring home.
If you make it be sure to tell her what you think.
We watched the Johnny Appleseed video in a barn.
We sat on hay bails. The movie makes him "talk".
Beautiful Fall colors.
First bus ride for some!
